11 Lacan: Return to Freud

Lacan's 'return to Freud' entailed re-thinking psychoanalysis in the light of Ferdinand de Saussure's linguistics. In Lacan's view, the individual conscious and unconscious is constituted in and through language. The individual can never achieve unity of self, but subsists always in a kind of psychological 'slippage'.
